LoveBug records conversations between two consenting partners and gives you both insights about your relationship. It's made by Dutchworks LLC ("Dutchworks," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy covers the LoveBug app and trylovebug.com.
Consent comes first. LoveBug will not record a conversation unless both partners have granted consent in the app. Either partner can withdraw consent at any time, which immediately stops recording for both of you.
Your account. LoveBug signs you in with Sign in with Apple or Google, and stores the identifier your provider gives us.
Your consent record. Every time you grant or withdraw consent to recording, we log it — who, when, and which version of these terms you agreed to — so there's an auditable history you can review in the app.
Audio. Conversations you and your partner consent to record are uploaded and stored encrypted (AES-256) in our cloud storage.
Transcripts. We use AssemblyAI to convert your audio into text.
Voiceprints (biometric data). We use pyannoteAI to tell which of you is speaking in a transcript. See the dedicated Biometric Information section below — please read it.
Relationship analysis. An AI language model processes your transcripts to identify patterns and generate the insights you see in the app. As of this policy's effective date, that analysis runs on Anthropic's Claude models, accessed through Amazon Bedrock.
Purchases. If you subscribe, Apple processes payment and RevenueCat keeps a subscriber record. We don't receive your card details.
Crash diagnostics. We use Sentry to catch app crashes and errors. Crash reports are technical and are not linked to your LoveBug account.
We configure AssemblyAI to delete its copy of each transcript as soon as we've read it back. pyannoteAI's own processing job and the media we hand it are not retained by pyannoteAI beyond the job itself — per pyannoteAI's published retention policy, job results are held for 24 hours and then deleted, and audio we pass to it by reference is not stored. The audio, transcript, and derived insights that LoveBug itself keeps are described above and in Section 4.
Because LoveBug uses a voiceprint to tell partners apart, this section exists specifically to satisfy biometric privacy laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) and the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (CUBI).
What it is. A voiceprint — a mathematical representation of your voice — created from a few short phrases you record when you enroll.
Why we collect it. Solely to attribute each turn of a recorded, consented conversation to the correct partner. We do not use it for facial recognition, identity verification outside the app, advertising, or any purpose beyond speaker attribution inside LoveBug.
Who creates and stores it. pyannoteAI creates the voiceprint from your enrollment audio under contract to us. The resulting voiceprint is then stored, encrypted, on our own servers — pyannoteAI does not keep a copy after the enrollment job finishes.
Retention and destruction. We retain your voiceprint for as long as your account is active — LoveBug has no fixed expiration timer for it. It is destroyed automatically, along with your recordings and profile, when you delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account). There isn't yet a way to delete only your voiceprint while keeping the rest of your account — email hello@bydutchworks.com if you want that done separately.
We never sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric data, and we do not disclose it except to the service providers named in this policy who help us provide LoveBug to you, or if required by law.
A single recording. You can delete any recording — its audio, transcript, and everything derived from it — from within the app at any time. LoveBug asks you to confirm once, then deletes it immediately.
Ending a pairing. Unlinking from your partner in the app ends your pairing immediately and signs both of you out of every device, but it does not by itself delete recordings already made.
Your whole account. Delete your account any time in the app (Settings → Delete account). It's immediate: LoveBug erases your recordings (audio, transcripts, and everything derived from them), your voiceprint, your reports on your partner's highlights, your consent history, and your sessions on every device; ends your pairing with your partner; and, if you signed in with Apple, revokes that sign-in grant. Because your couple's shared relationship-insight history is built in part from your recordings, deleting your account also removes that shared history — your partner keeps their own recordings. You can also request this by emailing hello@bydutchworks.com from your account's address.
AssemblyAI (transcription), pyannoteAI (diarization and voiceprint creation), Amazon Web Services (Bedrock, to run the Anthropic Claude model that powers relationship analysis), Apple and Google (sign-in), Apple and RevenueCat (subscriptions), Sentry (crash reporting), and our cloud hosting and storage providers. Each is bound to use your data only to provide their service to us. We do not sell your data, and your conversations are never used to serve you ads.
LoveBug's relationship insights are AI-generated for reflection and entertainment. They are not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, and LoveBug is not a substitute for couples counseling or therapy. If you and your partner are experiencing relationship distress or safety concerns, please contact a licensed professional.
LoveBug requires both partners' in-app consent before recording, but you are responsible for complying with the wiretapping and recording-consent laws of your jurisdiction, including if a third party is present in a recorded conversation.
LoveBug is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
We encrypt audio and voiceprints at rest and use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
